Ms Florence Gaspar

Special Assistant to the Special Representative of the UNSG for Children and Armed Conflict

Florence Gaspar, Senior Policy and Political Advisor to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (SRSG CAAC), is a lawyer from Belgium. Before taking her current position and joining the SRSG CAAC in 2016, she worked several years for UNICEF as a Child Protection Officer and Coordinator, including for a major delisting programme of former Maoist combatants in Nepal (2010-2012) and for the UNSC 1612 monitoring and reporting mechanism for Syria from Jordan (2013-2016). Beyond UNICEF and OSRSG CAAC, she has accumulated a vast experience in the field of human rights, international humanitarian law and refugee law, with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and as a refugee lawyer in Belgium. She has a law degree from the University of Louvain La Neuve and a diploma in International Legal Studies from the Institute des Hautes Études Universitaires de Genève (IUHEI). She is married and has three children.
