Ambassador of Belgium to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Permanent Representative to the African Union and IGAD
François Dumont is Ambassador of Belgium to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Permanent Representative to the African Union and IGAD since August 2018.
Previously, he was serving as Director of the Disarmament and Non Proliferation Unit at the Directorate General Multilateral Affairs and Globalization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels from August 2015. From 2011 to 2015, François Dumont served as Foreign Relations Counsellor and Deputy Head of the Belgian Delegation to the Political and Security Committee at the Belgian Permanent Representation to the European Union .
From 2004 to 2007, he served as Deputy Spokesperson of the Belgian MFA.
Since joining the Belgian Foreign Service in 1995, François Dumont had assignments as DHOM in Madrid (2007-11), Spain and DHOM in Bujumbura (1999-2004), Burundi.
His first overseas posting was in Beijing , PRChina (1996-1999).
François Dumont earned master’s degrees in Political sciences International Relations and in History from Louvain University.
