Ms Emilie Welam

Ms Welam holds an LLM as well as a B.Sc. (Political science) from Lund University, Lund, Sweden; and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law from Raoul Wallenberg Institute, Sweden. She has worked as a practitioner and advisor on a wide range of human rights matters in her home country and abroad. Her field experience on humanitarian protection and child protection comes from previous work with ICRC and UNICEF, including in western Côte d’Ivoire, Gaza/OPT, eastern DR Congo and South Sudan. She worked for Sida HQ in Stockholm, at the Swedish Embassy office in Juba, and joined the Swedish Embassy in Addis Abeba in 2017, Regional Team for development cooperation with sub-Saharan Africa. She is passionate about ensuring respect for children’s rights, in particular during armed conflict.
